Website Accounts

The Faculty Web Server is available to individual faculty and staff members who wish to publish information about how the individual faculty member is meeting the teaching, research, and service missions of the university.  UNLV faculty members who would like to create a website for university purposes, such as promoting research or a class, can apply for an account. Faculty websites are hosted by the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

You must choose between the two available website formats when you submit your account request:

Ready Made Website

A pre-made website will be created for you based upon the WordPress blogging tool and content management system. You will not need to produce your own graphics and HTML, or buy special software.  You may simply add your Vita, classes or research highlights.

The recommended web address will use your ACE account username (jdoe in the example below) unless an alternative web address is specified and approved in your account request.
Example: http://faculty.unlv.edu/wpmu/jdoe (Ready Made Website – WordPress)

Do It Yourself Website (Advanced Users)

Web server space will be provided to you, and you will need to provide everything else. This option is recommended for more advanced users with experience creating web pages.

The recommended web address will use your ACE account username (jdoe in the example below) unless an alternative web address is specified and approved in your account request.
Example: http://faculty.unlv.edu/jdoe (Do It Yourself Website)

Applying for an Account

To obtain an account on the UNLV Faculty Web Server, please fill out the  New User Application or contact the IT Help Desk at (702) 895-0777.  An OIT staff member will contact you with regard to your request within 3 business days.

Updating Account Information

To change the name on an existing web account, or to transfer ownership of an account, please contact the IT Help Desk.
