Online Education: Strategies for Success

Online Education: Learn how it works to see if distance education can work for you

As you can see, this is not a commercial site.

I’m not here to “sell” online education; I simply would like to share my story about how online education worked for me.

I was an online student when I planned and developed several web pages for a site about online education. They were originally designed in Dreamweaver as part of the course requirements for an advanced online design course I took in NJIT’s Professional and Technical Communication Program (MSPTC), but I’ve recycled them for use here.

My original intent was to provide information about other online programs, compile wisdom and insight of other students, and offer strategies for success. Since then, I have gained experience teaching courses at the undergraduate college level at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where I am a doctoral student and graduate assistant.

Several students have told me they didn’t know quite what to expect from online educational experiences. It is my hope that by sharing this information (how it works, getting organized … ) we can help one another both to enhance our experiences and maintain the integrity and quality of online education. More information about other aspects of online education (tips and advice about finding a program, and frequently asked questions) can be found by using the links on the left side of this page.

Please contact me if you would like to share your story or have questions that you think other online learners may be able to answer.
