Western US Horn Symposium in Las Vegas Announces Great News

There is Great News and even better news. The Great News is that the Western US Horn Symposium in Las Vegas is less than a month away (Oct. 25-28 th ) with its program of outstanding recitalists, presenters and exhibitors.

The even better news is that we are extending the early registration discount program until Oct. 10th. For a $95 registration fee you will get 3 full days plus an evening of all things relating to the horn. That's more than a dozen recitals and presentations; more than 20 hours of trying and buying all things "horn" in the exhibit area; plus - - mass horn choirs, competitions, and meeting and discussing "horn" with people like you (all ages and levels of experience - - beginner to nationally recognized soloists and educators). For those who can't be at the Symposium for the full program, we are offering a daily rate of $45 per day.

Bill Bernatis (UNLV),host of the Symposium, states that included in the list of presenters are: Paul Basler, composer and recitalist (U of Florida); the Oregon Symphony horn section; Quadre, the voice of 4 horns (San Francisco); Bruce Atwell (U of Wisconsin - Osh Kosh); Ellen Campbell (U of Missouri, Kansas City); Richard Chenoweth (U of Dayton and Santa Fe Opera); Sandra Clark (Toledo Symphony); John Cox (Principal Oregon Symphony); John Ericson (Arizona State U); Janine Gaboury-Sly (Michigan State U); Steven Gross (U of Cal., Santa Barbara); Larry Lowe (BYU); Eldon Matlick (U of Oklahoma); Richard Nichols (Clearwater College); Jeff Snedeker (Central Washington U); Paul Stevens (Kansas U); Mike Thornton (Colorado Symphony); Lydia Van Dreel (U of Oregon); and Ken Wiley (Jazz hornist).

Exhibitors will include horn manufactures Atkinson Brass, Bair Musical Products, Conn, Dieter Otto, Patterson Hornworks, and Yamaha; plus retailers and accessory manufactures: Balu Mutes, Ken Pope Repair, and Moosewood Horn Requisites.

Due to a change in the manner which hotels in Las Vegas are handling the establishment of room blocks for conventions/trade shows and the requirement that hosts must pay for all unused rooms in the block, we can no longer provide this service. However, Las Vegas room rates are still competitive especially when combined with air travel and/or car rental. The web-site contains links to the web-sites of several hotel reservation services.

Mark your calendars. The Symposium kicks-off with a 7:30PM concert on Wednesday October 25th and continues through Saturday evening with:

Please tell all your horn playing friends/associates about the Symposium and give them our web-site and E-mail addresses so that they can directly receive all of the program updates. Please use the E-mail address, , if you have any questions relating to the Symposium.

To all hornists we extend a hearty invitation to join us from October 25th to 28th, in Las Vegas at the Western U.S. Horn Symposium and be prepared to "Come Play in Las Vegas!"
