In the fall of 2000, this lab was renamed the CyberCounseling and Neuropsychological Assessment Lab reflecting an expansion of the mission to include study of the delivery of psychological services via the Internet/WWW. The additional scope is consistent with the focus in recent lab studies of online test administration and adds ongoing investigation of alternatives including e-mail and chat software for counseling and test interpretation. The lab is housed in the Educational Psychology Department, College of Education, University of Nevada, Las Vegas and directed by Dr. Paul Jones.
Participants in the online CyberCounseling and neuropsychological test development studies use one of two computers in the lab with ethernet connection to the Internet/WWW with off-site connection either elsewhere in the building or to a site at another location. The lab equipment also provides biofeedback capabilities and a variety of assistive technology devices for persons with visual disability.
A single participant sample is typically used for a series of distinct studies in the lab. To minimize repetition in the reports, the sample and instrumentation used in a study series are detailed once and then referenced with links rather than repeated in the description of each of the several studies.
