I am an associate professor here at UNLV, and teach courses on cognition and instruction, research methods, assessment, as well as educational psychology for preservice teachers. My research focuses on argumentation and critical thinking, and specifically how teachers can foster productive critical discussion in small groups. I also research how students synthesize arguments and counterarguments when engaging in crticial discussions or persuasive writing.
