I am very interested in visual communication and visual
literacy, as you may have gathered. The origins of our capacity to create
images is a fascinating area of research that has involved me in various
projects, one of which is the examination of cave art. Some have
characterized cave art as primitive, but there is a great depth to the
style and intriguing questions—why did they do it? What was its purpose? We
may never know the answers to these questions except within the confines of
speculation.
