ABOUT ME

I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Truman State University, my M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Indiana, and my PhD in Human Development with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. My research interests include sexuality, technology and couples, and infidelity. Clinically, I am most interested in working with couples (specifically couples who experience sexual problems) and children.

    • Seeking Couples That Are Living a High-Stress Life-Style for a Wellness/Stress Management Study

      The Department of Marriage and Family Therapy seeks volunteers to participate in a Master’s Thesis Research study at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas under the supervision of Dr. Kat Hertlein. This research focuses on links between stress, wellness and couples relationships. Volunteers must be healthy couples between the ages of 18 and 55. If you volunteer to participate in this study, you will be asked to do the following: Answer questions on 3 occasions about stress, your relationship and quality of life (about 1 hour each time). You will also on 3 occasions listen to a soothing meditation while sitting in a specially designed recliner. One visit will include a testing session and meditation session (to save one trip). These sessions will take place (in private rooms) during appointments that you will schedule at the Sound for Healing Institute located at 199 N Arroyo Grande, Suite 100, Henderson, NV 89074 (close to I-215 at the Valley Verde exit in Green Valley). Participants must provide their own transportation; however, there will be no financial cost to you to participate in this study. Upon completion of the study you will receive a boxed CD set (3 CDs). There may also be direct benefits to you as a participant in this study. You will learn relaxation procedures that may allow you to reduce the level of stress in your life.
