Expectations
Undergraduate research experience is highly recommended for students interested in entering graduate school or pursuing careers the healthcare professions (medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, etc.). Limited laboratory space is available for academically outstanding and highly motivated students. Projects normally require a 5-10 hour weekly commitment during the academic year and a full-time effort during the summer. Attendance to lab meetings is required.

Academic Credit
Research credit may be obtained by registering for BIO492 Undergraduate Research (1-3 units per semester). Credit for participation in laboratory meetings may be obtained by enrolling in BIO493 Undergraduate seminar or BIO496 Special Topics in Modern Biology.

Course Registration
  1. Pre-register for BIO492/493/ or 496 credits with the Department of Biological Science office (Whi-101) after completion of an application form with Dr. Hoshizaki.
  2. Register for BIO492/493/ or 496 credits through the university registrar. Call numbers for BIO492, 493 and 496 may be obtained through the Department of Biological Science
