Research Interests

My laboratory studies molecular interactions between bacterial pathogens and the host, with special emphasis on the intracellular bacterial pathogen Shigella flexneri. We are particularly interested how external surfaces of Shigella are modulated in response to different environmental cues. Our research focuses on three main areas.

Shigella flexneri forms an actin tail to spread from one host cell to another

Current Projects:

 Comparative analyses of omptin proteases

 Regulation of Shigella virulence factors

 Shigella survival in extra-host environments
