There are two assigned papers, of 5 to 10 pages each. The papers will be based upon the assigned readings; there will be no need to do additional research for these papers. (However, anyone who would like to do a research paper in lieu of one or more of the assigned papers should contact me to discuss this.) I will propose topics for your papers, although at any point during the term if you would like to propose a paper topic of your own, please do so by emailing me.
The papers will be due the third and the fifth weeks of the summer term. In case of a personal or medical emergency, an extension may be extended, only if the student has contacted the instructor to discuss the emergency prior to the due date. Otherwise, late papers will be penalized one-half point per school day of lateness. Each paper will account for 35% of the semester grade.
