Research and Pedagogy
Music Educators engage in a wide range of research topics usually related to their pedagogical and personal interests. My research focuses on technology in the form of internet/web delivery as used by university and college faculty to prepare students for teaching.
Rather than traditional forms of technology that are primarily linear in design, multimedia technology that stimulates interaction between faculty and pre-service teachers can be used for reflection and remediation of teaching behaviors. Initial findings indicate that the move to digital, web-based, and multimedia delivery does not change the essential purposes of education but has the potential to dramatically alter the options for inquiry, analysis, and expression, thus creating opportunities for pre-service teachers to analyze teaching methods, pose alternative teaching strategies and gain confidence to manage the contemporary classroom.
