Curriculum Vitae


Dr. Allen received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Dakota in 1993, with an emphasis on Neuropsychology. He came to UNLV from Pittsburgh where he worked as a staff psychologist at the VA Medical Center and held an appointment at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Neurology. Research interests include neuropsychological approaches to understanding schizophrenia, and substance use disorders. His most recent research focuses on individuals with schizophrenia and comorbid substance use, bipolar disorder, and child maltreatment.

·       Neuropsychological functioning in schizophrenia and comorbid alcohol use

·       Cognitive heterogeneity in individuals with schizophrenia

·       Emotion processing in schizophrenia
