Research Interests
My research agenda focuses on sport volunteer management and
the marketing aspect of the action sports industry. Specifically, I
have been
exploring the cross-validation of a path analysis model that assesses
volunteer
motivation, satisfaction, and retention at a variety of different sport
settings. My dissertation focused on marketing strategies
employed by board sports (surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding)
brands in
order to perform the expansion to mainstream audiences. This line of
research
also involves an examination of the concept of authenticity within
boarding
subcultures and sustainability issues in action sports
organizations. Finally, I am interested in the evolution of the Olympic
sponsorship program and the different ways corporate partners
incorporate
the
Olympic values into their marketing strategies. I have worked in
various sporting events, including a
three-month
internship at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the ESPN X-Games, and the
NBC Mountain Dew
Action
Sports Tour. I have a sound commitment to sport management, both from
an
academic and practical perspective.
