Education

Dr. Bae received a Ph.D. in chemistry at University of Southern California in 2002 under the guidance of Professor G. K. Surya Prakash and Nobel Laureate Professor George A. Olah. In 2002, he moved to Yale University to carry out postdoctoral studies with Professor John F. Hartwig investigating functionalization of C-H bonds in alkanes and polyolefins. Since 2004, he has been an assistant professor of chemistry at University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Area of interests

Dr. Bae is interested in research that combines the areas of organic chemistry, catalysis, green chemistry, polymer chemistry, and materials science. In a broad sense, the research in his laboratory currently involves the application of new organic synthetic method to the synthesis of new functional materials that might have special applications. The major focuses in his group are developing novel recoverable polymeric catalysts, new organic/polymeric materials for electronics or energy storage, and polyelectrolyte membranes for fuel cell applications.
